Congratulations to Paul Rucker!

We know we’re saying this belatedly, but we believe it’s never too late for a Congratulations. So!

We here at HONK! Fest West would like to just say a public congrats to Mr. Rucker, who is our liaison at the Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs. Or was, rather, as he recently took leave of his position after winning a Creative Capital Grant to work on a project he’s titled Recapitulation.

Huge thanks to Mr. Rucker for all his help over the years. We can’t wait to see this project in person. Congrats, sir!

Your Weekend Events

LAST DAY TO SHOP, DO IT LOCALLY: Hey everyone! There’s only one day left to finish up your holiday shopping. Sure, you can hazard the malls if you’re feeling brave and foolish, but the better bet is to head to the Century Ballroom and shop an eclectic collection of local clothing designers, artifact hunters, vintage sellers, and hagglers of all stripes. Stylized like a Parisian flea markets, there is no guarantee on what treasures you’ll find, but odds are good your family will unwrap happy.
Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. // Century Ballroom // FREE

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER: Every Christmas Eve for the past seven years, The Blue Moon Tavern has welcomed those who haven’t a place to go alongside those who do, but would prefer to pretend they don’t. This year is no exception. The 8th Annual Blue Moon Christmas Pageant promises drink specials and the kind of special bonhomie only an evening so culturally loaded could provide. Plus music, courtesy of The Donner Vixens, The Fabulous Downey Brothers, High Divide, Dead On Xmas, and DJ Country Mike. If that wasn’t enough, Jesus and Satan will battle, the remnants of which the Rev.Darnell Jenkins will clean up with a Midnight Mass. If you like your holidays smelling like whiskey, then this place has the Pageant for you.
Saturday 8:00 p.m. // Blue Moon // $6

DANCE UNDER THE MISTLETOE: Flammable is the longest running house music night on the west coast, happening every Sunday night at Re-Bar over the last 10 years. This Sunday is no exception, Christmas be damned. So kick loose from your family and head to the dance floor for a party DJd by Karl Kamakahi, Brian Lyons, and the wonderful Riz Rollins. It’s sure to get your spirits rising.
Sunday 10:00 p.m. // Re-Bar // $10
