Mt. St. Helens blew her top on May 18th, 1980. 33 years later, we are waiting for another ‘big one’ and this brass showcase might get us one step closer!

Come party with Seattle’s best HONK! bands and celebrate the joy of music and dance as if the volcano is about to erupt again!

It’s a BRASS BAND ERUPTION!!!!

A Special Note from our Housing Coordinator

We have over 250 to 300 out-of-town musicians who will be filling Seattle with lush harmonies and raucous beautiful music and rhythms this June 21-23 for Honk! Fest West (our sixth year), and they will need places to sleep in the evening and, perhaps, rest during the day.

Hosting band members in your home is one of the best and most helpful ways to be involved with our community festival, and a wonderful way to make new friends and memories. Some of our host families have even found a new band to play in and, almost always, a new sound to love. Proximity to reliable bus stops which will enable your guests to get to their gigs easily is most helpful. Or, if you can drive your guests, that is a nice gesture as well (but not expected). The bands have a demanding performance schedule during their visit, and ease of transportation will be very important.

Support HONK! Fest West 2013 by Shaking Your Brass!

After an awesome HonkTX, it’s time for your own HONK! Fest West to kick into high gear! Let’s start this Saturday with Shake Your Brass II, our 2nd Annual Brassy Benefit for HONK! Fest West.

This March 30th, Columbia City Theater will host hot brass from marching bands, live burlesque from Seattle’s hottest cabarets, a live auction, new HONK! swag, and a midnight jam to burn your toast.

Feast your ears on Portland’s LoveBomb Go-Go, Seattle Sounders FC Soundwave Band, One Love, and Mighty Tiny Band. Your eyes will dance at the beauty of Tamara the Trapeze Lady, Miss Kitty Baby, Paris Original, Madisun Avenue, and The Luminous Pariah.

All attendees are welcome to bring your mobile, acoustic instrument for a community jam. Fear not! Fortune favors the bold, plus we all started somewhere. Why not here, with us?

Sixth Annual HONK! Fest West returns June 21st, 22nd, and 23rd!

HONK! Fest West is a free, three-day, community supported music festival fair dedicated to bringing marching bands, samba lines, horn players, drum corps, and every manner of rhythmic and melodic noisemaker we could find right to the Seattle streets. These volunteer musicians will play unamplified and without fabricated stages, breaking down the barriers between the audience and performers and musically reconnecting with the Seattle community.

This is a weekend-long celebration of Seattle’s public spaces through incredible music, street performances, and uninhibited dancing. It is all-ages, always FREE and family-friendly. Fanciful costumes and participation are highly encouraged!

On Friday, June 21st, HONK! Fest West returns to the corner of Vale and Airport Way in Georgetown from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Music continues until midnight inside The Mix (21+).

Saturday, June 22nd, HONK! Fest West is excited to partner with the Fremont Arts Council and the Solstice Parade! We are pleased to be a part of Solstice Parade’s 25th year in the streets of Fremont, before traveling on to Gas Works Park for an afternoon of musical revelry amidst and astride one of the best views of the city and Sound from 3 – 8 p.m.

Sunday, June 23rd, HONK! Presents a revue of all our HONK! Bands at the Seattle Art Museum! This event is free and open to the public. Then follow us down to the Columbia City Theatre for a wrap party and jam session with anybody left standing.

HONK! Fest West VI Dates!
